Top 10 Things You Need to Know About Webkinz!

Webkinz

Welcome to my blog. I’ve become a very big Webkinz fan and collector. I’ve had a lot of fun (and made some money too!) and I wanted to share my experiences with you.

If you’re new to Webkinz, start with this Top 10 List:

1. Collecting is fun, and Webkinz are like new improved Beanie Babies!

Webkinz take collecting to a new level. Your Webkinz come to life online, where you can feed and dress them and decorate their house! Just don’t use the secret code or you’ll lose the resale value!

2. Retired or Hard to Find Webkinz sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay.

Don’t take my word for it… see how much a Retired Cheeky Cat sells for! Some Webkinz sell for almost $1000 or more! Buy low, sell high.

3. Ganz (the makers of Webkinz) retires pets on purpose to increase demand.

What does this mean to you? It means that Ganz has created a business model for you! If you keep tabs on what pets have been popular for a long time, and listen to the buzz on the internet, you’ll soon find out what pets they’re most likely to retire soon. This is the time to snap some up before the rest of the world finds out!

4. At approx. $12 each when new, you can make a tidy profit.

You can buy new Webkinz for a pretty small amount of money. It’s like buying stock or real estate. When your Webkinz is retired and people are scrambling to find one, they’ll pay a premium and you make money!

5. If you thought Cabbage Patch dolls or TMX Elmo were popular…

Remember the Cabbage Patch kids? Well some people never forgot. Released over twenty years ago, they were hugely popular. People stepped over each other to buy them in stores. Thought THEY were popular? What about TMX Elmo… that was a huge hit… or was it? Let’s see what the numbers say.

Webkinz are more popular than Cabbage Patch or TMX Elmo ever were

WOW! Webkinz is taking off like a rocket! This is clearly nothing like we’ve seen before. This is called opportunity.

6. Some Webkinz are seasonal… They’re only available part of the year.

Webkinz Love PuppyWhy does this matter to you? Because seasonal Webkinz also see demand surge when they’re not available! And higher demand means a higher price!

Imagine your kid decides that they just HAVE to get a Love Puppy, but they’re out of season. Sometimes you can’t just say no… So people search on eBay to satisfy their little one’s needs.

You can find seasonal Webkinz like the Love Puppy too, and sell them at a higher price when demand rises!

7. What are Lil’ Kinz?

Lil’ Kinz are simply a smaller version of Webkinz! Other than size, they’re the same, so your kid can adopt and name their pet, play games etc. AND they’re collectible too. Rumor has it that some of them are soon to retire, like the Lil Kinz Black Bear… but more on that below.

The latest Lil’ Kinz to steal people’s hearts is the Tree Frog. This is one of the hardest to find and most desired Lil’ Kinz out there. They are always sold out at stores. Good News! I have found a small supply Lil’ Kinz Tree Frogs on eBay.

8. You can collect Webkinz Trading Cards too!

The first series of Webkinz trading cards released by Ganz includes 80 cards. You can collect, trade and play games with the cards… and you can buy Webkinz trading cards online. There are also three subsets of cards available to purchase: Challenge Cards, Curio Shop Curiosities and Webkinz Doodlez.

9. Which Webkinz Are Retired?

  1. Cheeky Dog
  2. Cheeky Cat
  3. Unicorn
  4. Gold & White Cat
  5. Basset Hound
  6. Horse
  7. Gray and White Cat

10. Which Webkinz are Rumoured to Retire?

  1. St. Bernard
  2. Pegasus
  3. Lil Kinz Black Bear
  4. Lil Kinz Hippo
  5. Lil Kinz Basset Hound
  6. Lil Kinz St. Bernard

Bonus Tip! – What’s the HOTTEST Webkinz?

Although it’s OUT OF STOCK in almost every store, you can still find the popular Black Lab on getitnext.com!

It’s a hit with the kids and they’ve been selling so fast, Ganz can’t keep up with them.

This one hasn’t been retired yet… but you can be sure it’s going to be a great collector item.
